At The Table Less Traveled, we believe that the best travel experiences come with a sense of adventure paired with peace of mind. That’s why we require all travelers to purchase travel protection before joining one of our trips. While we hope you’ll never need it, travel insurance ensures you’re covered for unexpected hiccups, so you can focus on what really matters—immersing yourself in an incredible journey.
What My Travel Protection Should Cover?
The Table Less Traveled requires all travelers to have a comprehensive travel insurance policy that includes:
Trip cancellation and interruption protection for the entire cost of your spot on the group trip.
Emergency medical coverage: Minimum of $100,000 per person for medical expenses
Medical evacuation and repatriation coverage: Minimum of $1,000,000 per person
Why Does Travel Protection Matter?
Life is full of surprises, and travel is no exception. We’ve seen firsthand how insurance can save the day when:
A traveler gets sick right before departure and has to reschedule.
Flights get delayed, causing missed connections.
Luggage doesn’t make it to the destination on time.
An emergency back home means a traveler needs to cut their trip short.
We want you to feel confident knowing that no matter what comes your way, you have support.
When Do I Need To Purchase Travel Protection?
We recommend purchasing travel insurance as soon as you book your trip so you're covered from the start. We also strongly recommend adding a Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) option for added flexibility.
Most Providers Allow Adjustments: Many insurers let travelers increase their insured trip cost before departure. This ensures coverage for newly added prepaid expenses like flights, hotels, or excursions.
Time-Sensitive Benefits Apply: Many policies require that additional costs be declared within a specific timeframe (e.g., 14-21 days) to maintain eligibility for benefits like Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) or pre-existing condition waivers.
Premiums May Change: Increasing your insured trip cost typically results in a higher premium, as coverage is based on total prepaid, non-refundable expenses.
Some Budget Plans May Be Less Flexible: Lower-tier plans may have stricter modification rules, so it’s always best to check the fine print.
How Do I Provide Proof of Travel Protection?
Before your trip, we’ll ask you to share your travel insurance details, including your provider, policy, and policy number. That way, if anything happens, we can help you navigate next steps.
All travelers must purchase and provide proof of travel insurance within 21 days of paying the initial deposit.
Where Should I Buy Travel Protection?
We highly recommend Travel Insured, a provider we’ve used and trust for reliable coverage and claims support. We’ve seen firsthand how their policies have provided full payouts in difficult situations, ensuring our travelers were protected when it mattered most. You can choose Travel Insured or your preferred provider.
Important Notes About Travel Insured
CFAR protection must be purchased within 14-21 days of your initial deposit payment.
