I want to take a Community Cooking Class with another person but do not understand if we need to buy two spots for the class?
The cost for a Community Class covers one device (laptop, phone, etc) meaning you can cook alongside as many people as you’d like from the same kitchen. Should you want to take a class with someone in another house, you would need to purchase two spots for class.
I purchased a Community Class, but have not received a registration email. Where could it be?
You will receive an automatic registration email with details on how to prepare for and join your class. The registration email sent from our system may have ended up in your junk or spam mailboxes, so please search your inbox for "hello@thetablelesstraveled.com”. If you are still unable to locate it, please contact us at hello@thetablelesstraveled.com
How long are cooking classes?
Community Cooking Classes are 60 to 90 minutes long depending on the recipe. Private group cooking classes last about 90 minutes.
How much do cooking classes cost?
Community Cooking Classes cost $55 per screen. The pricing for our private group cooking classes varies depending on the cooking event chosen.
How difficult are the classes?
Our Community Cooking Classes and private group cooking classes are great for beginners as well as experienced home chefs. The host and chef will keep an eye on participants to make sure everything is going smoothly and no question goes unanswered.
Can I reschedule or cancel a Community Cooking Class that I have already booked?
Upon registration of a class, payments are non-refundable.
A registrant must notify TTLT of a reschedule or change request at least 48 hours before the scheduled class. A registrant can reschedule to another class within 30 days subject to availability. Please contact us at hello@thetablelesstraveled.com to check availability.
If a registrant notifies TTLT of a request to change, reschedule, or cancel a class within 48 hours of a class start time, or is a no-show for the class, the registrant does not qualify for a reschedule or refund.
In the event of a cancellation of a class by TTLT, we will contact individuals who are registered and participants can choose to reschedule to another class or receive a full refund which will be returned to the original payment method.
INGREDIENTS
Can I substitute ingredients in a recipe to fit my dietary preferences?
The recipes from our chefs around the world are about as authentic as you can get! However, we encourage improvising ingredients based on availability and dietary preferences. General substitutions are listed on individual event pages under Ingredients & Preparation.
Here are common substitutions specifically to make a recipe Gluten-Free:
How to make a recipe gluten-free:
For any recipe requiring flour (pasta, pizza, quiche, cake, biscuits, etc.), replace the 00 flour with gluten-free flour.
For any recipe requiring soy sauce, replace soy sauce with gluten-free soy sauce or tamari.
For any recipe requiring Savoiardi biscuits or Ladyfingers (tiramisu), replace the biscuits with gluten-free biscuits.
I don't have all the ingredients. Can I still take a cooking class?
If you don’t have all the ingredients, it is possible to improvise ingredients based on availability and dietary preferences. Remember to take advantage of the live aspect of our classes and ask your chef about making substitutions or omitting certain ingredients!
If you’re interested in a private cooking class and don’t want to worry about gathering your own ingredients, check out our EYN Recipe Kits and have the ingredients shipped directly to your group.
TOOLS
What kind of tools do I need for class?
All of our classes have the tools and equipment listed on the event page. All recipes assume you have access to commonly used kitchen tools.
Some classes require special kitchen tools that are not mandatory but enhance the cultural experience of your class. Links to purchase these specialty tools are on our class pages.
In the event that you do not have the specialty tools, improvise with what you have on hand in your kitchen or ask the chef about an acceptable substitute during class.
Should I use metric or imperial measurements?
We like to share the original recipe of our chefs who live in countries which use the metric system.
While measurements in our recipes are given primarily in the metric system, in parentheses the imperial measurement is given. The imperial measurements are often an estimated conversion.
