Ingredients & Preparation
Have your ingredients pre-measured and prepped before the class for a more seamless experience.
If you do not have certain ingredients, our chefs will do their best to suggest substitutions.
Arroz con Leche
6-8 servings
1 cup white rice
2 cups water
4 tablespoons butter
3 cups milk, whole or 2%
1 12-oz can evaporated milk
2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons of clear vanilla (regular is fine, but your final product won’t be as light in color.)
Zest of 1 whole orange
1 14-oz can sweetened condensed milk
Optional: Mint leaves for decoration
Agua de Sapo
1 serving
2 tablespoons of unrefined cane sugar
1 glass of water
Juice from 1 lime
1 cube of fresh, peeled ginger (1 inch x 1 inch)
Ice cubes
Equipment
Certain commonly used kitchen tools are not listed here, such as cutlery, dishes, mixing bowls, pots, and pans. Any additional equipment is listed here.
Fine mesh sieve to wash the rice
Microplane zester or the small holes of a box grater
Blender
General Steps:
Wash and cook the rice.
While cooking, make the Agua de Sapo.
During cooking, add dairy ingredients and seasonings. When done cooking, add sweetened condensed milk.
Enjoy warm or cold!
