Tres Leches Cake

Join our newest chef, Wendy, from Costa Rica, and learn how to make Tres Leches (meaning “three milks”), a light and airy cake soaked in a sweet milk mixture and topped with whipped cream and served chilled. It could easily become your new favorite dessert for warm spring and summer days!
Ingredients & Preparation
Have your ingredients pre-measured and prepped before the class for a more seamless experience.
If you do not have certain ingredients, our chefs will do their best to suggest substitutions.
Before class:
- Please pre-divide your eggs.*
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (176 degrees C)
Tres Leches Cake
12 servings
8 egg whites*
8 egg yolks*
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
4 1/4 cups whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 12-oz can evaporated milk
1 14-oz can of condensed milk
1 container/can of ready whipped cream (like this)
Optional: prepared fresh berries (strawberries recommended), chocolate chips, or sprinkles for topping
Optional for adult-cake version: alcohol of choice (rum, vodka, etc) can be added in

Certain commonly used kitchen tools are not listed here, such as cutlery, dishes, mixing bowls, pots, and pans. Any additional equipment is listed here.

General Steps:
Make the cake.
Mix the kinds of milk while the cake bakes.
Add the milk mixture to the warm cake.
Refrigerate for 1 hour.
After class, decorate with whipped cream and enjoy!
